Friday’s Shenzhen Open quarter-finals delivered a statement whitewash and a nervy English derby — while Bali’s Women’s Worlds quarters tip later and the Aramith Men’s last 32 stays on the floor.
Shenzhen: Trump thrash Selby; Jimmy Robertson into the last four
Best-of-nine quarters at Bao’an Sports Centre opened with a match billed like a final. It never looked like one.
- Judd Trump blanked Mark Selby 5–0 — frame scores 69–30, 77–0, 77–34, 75–47, 86–0. Trump posted a 50+ break in every frame (high 79); Selby never got a foothold on the sticky cloth.
- Jimmy Robertson beat Chris Wakelin 5–3 after leading 4–1. Wakelin’s 120 sparked a fightback to 4–3 before Robertson closed it out — a first ranking semi of the season for the world No.45 against either Holt or Yuan.
Still to play (afternoon session, ~12:30 BST tip): Shaun Murphy vs Wu Yize (winner meets Trump) · Michael Holt vs Yuan Sijun (winner meets Jimmy Robertson).
Champion’s cheque: £177,000 on Sunday (best-of-19 final).
Bali Women’s Worlds: quarters on deck
Overnight the Kamui WPA Women’s 9-Ball Worlds locked the last eight (race to three). Quarters are the next live board in Nusa Dua — including a rematch edge: Seoa Seo vs Chezka Centeno (Centeno won their Women’s 10-Ball Worlds SF in Rome in August), plus Kristina Tkach–Tzu-Chien Wei, Chia Hua Chen–Chihiro Kawahara, and Chieh-Yu Chou–Huang Qing Ning.
Event runs through 4 October ($200,000).
Aramith Men’s + Doubles: L32 / LQ still rolling
The $150,000 Aramith Men’s Open (10-ball) moved from losers’ qualification into a stacked last-32 sheet earlier Friday — Shaw, Kaçi, Pagulayan, Szewczyk and Alcaide among those who clawed back; winners’-side holds include Dương, Filler, Biado, Sanchez Ruiz and Macioł. Single-elim L32 action continues at the Bali International Convention Centre.
Isak Billiard WPA Men’s Doubles Worlds: losers’ qualification was filling the remaining quarter-final berths after Chinese Taipei, Poland, Syria and USA had already cleared winners’ side.
