Thanawat’s Century Whitewash Sparks Scottish Day 2
Mattioli Arena’s morning session didn’t hang about. Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon dismantled Paul Norris 4–0 in Leicester — a proper demolition that included a 121 century and frame breaks of 80, 79 and 74. The Thai cueist is through to face Robbie Williams in Round 2 on Wednesday morning.
Poland’s Mateusz Baranowski was just as ruthless: 4–0 over amateur Patrick Whelan with breaks of 65, 56 and 51, booking a date with Ricky Walden. Wales’ Liam Davies needed a frame more, seeing off Julien Leclercq 4–1 (Davies breaks 77/64/54) and lining up Long Zehuang next.
Elsewhere on the morning slate, Oliver Sykes led Reanne Evans 3–1 when we checked snooker.org at midday — still unfinished, so no final called yet. Milkman Comes Clean — Eyes Sofia Rebuild
Robert Milkins didn’t sugar-coat it. In a candid chat carried by SnookerHQ today, the former Welsh Open and Gibraltar Open winner admitted he “disrespected the game,” called himself “lazy,” and said he’d fallen out of love after losing his tour card — Q School defeats to Duane Jones and Gong Chenzhi ending a stretch that had once seen him as high as world No.12.
Focus now is the Q Tour. After a 4–0 loss to Stuart Watson in Event 1, the Milkman is back on Tuesday when Q Tour Europe Event 2 opens in Sofia, Bulgaria (21–24 September). WPBSA have 109 players from 24 nations on the sheet, with Event 1 winner Sanderson Lam in the field. Note: Sofia, not Leicester — separate venue from the Scottish Open quals.

The 39th Japan Open is on finals day at New Pia Hall, Tokyo — men’s 10-ball and women’s 9-ball titles on the line.
