Tomorrow the tables turn to New Delhi. The NSCI Open 8-Ball — organised by the Delhi Billiards & Snooker Association with the National Sports Club of India — opens Saturday 26 September at NSCI Club and runs through 5 October, with a ₹5 lakh purse and a who’s-who of Indian cue already named.
Delhi — NSCI Open on the eve of start
PTI and local reports list former world billiards champion Sourav Kothari among the headliners, alongside 8-ball national champion and former Asian heyball title-holder Sundeep Gulati, Kamal Chawla, Bengaluru’s Vidya Pillai, and national 9-ball / 10-ball champion Chitra Magimairaj. DBSA secretary Ravi K Tandon has flagged the field as a genuine national draw — ten days of 8-ball at a city venue that usually hosts the country’s cue calendar peaks. No opening-day match scores yet (play starts tomorrow); this is the countdown, not a results dump.
Saigon women — Filler and Shi into the final
Fresh from Absolute Pool’s live bracket at the Poison Saigon Women’s 9-Ball Open: Friday’s semis are done. Germany’s Pia Filler blanked Taiwan’s Chieh-Yu Chou 2–0 (4–3, 4–2) after yesterday’s shock of Wei and Seo. China’s Shi Tianqi came from a set down to oust Philippines star Rubilen Amit 2–1 (4–2, 1–4, 1–4 — Amit took the opener, Shi the next two). The final is Filler vs Shi Tianqi — purse $90,000, $25,000 to the champion. No final score claimed here until the bracket closes.
Also on the cue trail
The Iwan Simonis WPA Men’s 10-Ball World Championship stays in Ho Chi Minh City through Saturday’s final (Phú Thọ). Thursday’s last-16 shocks (Kaçi over Gorst, Pehlivanovic blanking Woodward, Capito over Shaw) still frame the board; we’re not inventing Friday quarter-final tallies until CueScore / Absolute Pool lock them.
