Vietnam’s Dương Quốc Hoàng keeps carving through the Bali floor — and tonight the Aramith Men’s Open winners’ qualification delivered the biggest 10-ball shocks of the day. Over in Shenzhen, the snooker last-16 board finally closed and Friday’s quarter-finals are set in stone.
Bali Aramith Men’s: Dương blanks Kaçi; Macioł dumps Shaw
Winners’ qualification at the Bali International Convention Centre was brutal.
- Dương Quốc Hoàng blanked Eklent Kaçi 2–0 — after already shoving Fedor Gorst into the losers’ bracket earlier in the day. The Vietnamese cueist is flying on the $150,000 Aramith Men’s Open (10-ball, 128 players).
- Daniel Macioł beat Jayson Shaw 2–1 — WPA No.1 territory dumping one of the tour’s biggest names before the single-elimination cut.
- Joshua Filler edged David Alcaide 2–1; Carlo Biado blanked Marco Teutscher 2–0; Francisco Sanchez Ruiz blanked Radosław Babica 2–0; Aloysius Yapp beat Mohanad Mohammed 2–1; Robbie Capito blanked Bryant Saguiped 2–0.
- On the losers’ side, Casper Matikainen dumped Shane Van Boening 2–1 — SVB still alive, but the American path just got longer.
The Aramith Open runs through 5 October alongside the Kamui Women’s World 9-Ball Championship and the Isak Billiard Men’s Doubles 10-Ball Worlds.
Shenzhen Open: last eight locked — Trump–Selby headline Friday
Thursday’s evening half at Bao’an Sports Centre finished the last 16 and locked the quarter-finals for Friday (best of nine; losers £22,350).
- Judd Trump beat Si Jiahui 5–2 → QF vs Mark Selby
- Shaun Murphy beat Elliot Slessor 5–1 → QF vs Wu Yize
- Wu Yize beat Ricky Walden 5–3
- Yuan Sijun beat Zak Surety 5–2 → QF vs Michael Holt
- Already set earlier: Jimmy Robertson vs Chris Wakelin
Friday order of play (local): afternoon Trump–Selby and Jimmy Robertson–Wakelin; evening Murphy–Wu Yize and Holt–Yuan. Sunday’s champion takes £177,000.
Reyes Cup: Manas back for Team Asia
Away from the tables, the Roobet Reyes Cup (Makati Coliseum, 15–18 October) keeps filling out. Captain Francisco Bustamante has confirmed MVP AJ “Starboy” Manas as a Captain’s Pick for Team Asia — rejoining Robbie Capito and world champion Carlo Biado, with two Asia spots still open. Team Rest of the World already has Gorst, Sanchez Ruiz, Van Boening and Filler on the sheet (one wildcard left). Live coverage planned on WNT TV.
Also on the board
