Reyes Cup — Day Two tips off all square
Makati Coliseum lights up again tonight (7pm local / noon UK) with Asia and Rest of the World still locked at 2–2 after a see-saw opener. Coverage is on WNT TV, One Sports in the Philippines and ESPN+ in the USA, among others.
Day One ran Asia’s way early — a 5–3 team win, then Biado and Capito routing Filler and Pečelj 5–1 — before Sánchez Ruiz (5–1 over Duong) and the Gorst–Van Boening pairing (5–1 over Manas and Januarta) hauled ROW level. Spin.ph flagged AJ Manas’s costly errors in that nightcap; Absolute Pool had already tipped Van Boening and Sánchez Ruiz as early MVP frontrunners.
Friday’s card, per Absolute Pool:
- Team Asia v Team Rest of the World
- Robbie Capito v Joshua Filler
- Duong Quoc Hoang & AJ Manas v Fedor Gorst & Aleksa Pečelj
- Carlo Biado v Shane Van Boening
- Capito & Albert Januarta v Filler & Francisco Sánchez Ruiz
First to 11 match points takes the Roobet Reyes Cup and $20,000 a man. Asia are chasing a third straight title under Francisco Bustamante; Ralf Souquet’s ROW side are still hunting their first.
Wu Yize out of Belfast — Donaldson walks over
World champion Wu Yize has withdrawn from next week’s BetVictor Northern Ireland Open for medical reasons, SnookerHQ reported today. Scott Donaldson takes the walkover into the last 32. Defending champion Jack Lisowski opens against Huang Jiahao on Sunday; Mark Allen is due to face Jordan Brown on Monday in what would be his first appearance of the season. Zhao Xintong draws Gao Yang. UK coverage is on TNT Sports and HBO Max, with WST Play carrying table one.
