Vinnie Calabrese defeated Hassan Kerde 5-3 at the Pot Black Snooker Centre in Perth, Australia to win the first WPBSA Q Tour Asia-Pacific title of the 2026/27 season.

The 38-year-old former professional has finished top of the Q Tour Asia-Pacific ranking list for the last three seasons, winning nine previous Q Tour titles, and he continued his dominance in the region with victory in Perth.

Thirty-six players contested the three-day event, which is also known as the West Coast International and was organised by the Australian Billiards & Snooker Council (ABSC) and Asia-Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation (APSBF).

Calabrese dropped just a single frame in his opening three matches as he downed Jamyang Tshering (4-1), Naqi Alizada (4-0) and Fathey Refai (4-0) to set up a semi-final meeting with compatriot Salman Asif.

Asif has reached the final of the West Coast International in 2025 before losing out 5-0 to Calabrese in the final, and it was a similar outcome on this occasion as breaks of 43 and 67 helped for defending champion to a 4-0 win.

Former World Seniors Championship semi-finalist Hassan Kerde was Calabrese’s title match opponent after he last defeated Sufian Ahmed 4-2 to reach his fifth Q Tour final.

Calabrese never trailed in the final, scoring a top break of 82 to move 2-1 ahead, before a break of 49 in the sixth put him one away from victory.

Kerde managed to briefly reduce the deficit in the next but it wasn’t enough to deny Calabrese, who took the eighth frame by a 80-19 scoreline to win the 10th Q Tour title of his career.

The WPBSA Q Tour Asia-Pacific series continues in Auckland, New Zealand on 9-12 July and entries are open.
