News Brecel Blanks Gong — Deciders Decide Leicester Afternoon

The Mattioli Arena’s afternoon wave of Scottish Open Qual Round 2 did not mess about — whitewashes, seven-frame scrapes, and a few seeds shown the door before the evening session even sat down.

Leicester — afternoon wrap (R2)

Luca Brecel [37] set the tone early: a 4–0 blanking of Gong Chenzhi [100], frames settled without a fuss. Around him the cloth got messier.

Three ties went the distance:
  • Chatchapong Nasa [88] edged Louis Heathcote [64] 4–3 after Heathcote clawed back from 0–3
  • Matthew Stevens [47] survived Florian Nüßle [87] 4–3
  • Ben Woollaston [43] did the same to Alexander Ursenbacher [89] 4–3

Elsewhere on the 13:00 / 16:00 boards (via snooker.org):
  • Dylan Emery [66] 4–2 Ishpreet Singh Chadha [57]
  • Jiang Jun [59] 4–1 Oliver Brown [86]
  • Stan Moody [34] 4–1 Jack Borwick (a)
  • Jordan Brown [60] 4–0 Steven Wardropper (a)
  • Yao Pengcheng [71] 4–1 Liam Highfield [61]

Morning already locked Aaron Hill’s triple-century 4–2 over Antoni Kowalski, plus Scott Donaldson 4–2 Mitchell Mann and Iulian Boiko 4–3 Ben Mertens — twelve Round 2 winners banked for the day before the night shift.

Evening session — live, no scores claimed

Still on the tables as this posts (~19:00 BST start): Ryan Day vs Michal Szubarczyk, He Guoqiang vs Gao Yang, Jimmy Robertson vs Steven Hallworth, Oliver Lines vs Ashley Carty. We’ll take those when snooker.org posts the finishes — not before.

Wednesday morning opens with Wells–Sykes, Walden–Baranowski, Williams–Tirapongpaiboon and Long–Davies.

Where to watch
WST Play, HBO Max, Huya and partners — per snooker.org.
