The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is excited to announce the launch of an all-new Chinese website ahead of the start of the Wuhan Open.

Snooker has enjoyed unprecedented growth in the region over the past two decades, with four world ranking events in the country currently on the professional calendar, in addition to the prestigious Shanghai Masters won earlier this month by Kyren Wilson.

The sport has also seen several players from the country enjoy success at the very highest level, with Zhao Xintong having lifted the professional World Championship title for the first time and compatriot Bai Yulu having claimed the World Women’s Snooker Championship crown for the second successive time earlier this year.

There was also glory for Gao Yang at the World Snooker Federation Championship in January as the young cueist secured his return to the professional circuit.

The new website will provide further information about WPBSA Group activity around the world which has expanded rapidly in recent years and plays a significant part in the global development of snooker and billiards.

Features will include:

  • Timely updates aligned with the WPBSA English website
  • Official Weibo account for statements, news, and announcements
  • Built-in bilingual head-to-head search function
  • Video content with integrated Chinese subtitles
  • Development of a comprehensive archive on history, refereeing, and beginner-level coaching resources

Jason Ferguson, WPBSA Chairman said: “The launch of this all-new WPBSA website represents a huge step forward and a further way for the governing body to communicate with those who want to engage with our sport.

“The WPBSA Group has seen significant growth across the globe in recent years, as of course has the WST and we recognise that it is crucial that snooker and our coverage of the sport is as accessible to fans across the world as possible.

“China has played an integral part in this growth and in recent years we have seen more competitions staged there, including the World Women’s Snooker Championship since 2024 and the Shanghai Disability Snooker Invitational last year.

“I am therefore excited to see this new resource grow and to be able to connect with mandarin speakers around the world in a new way over the coming years.”
