Thepchaiya Un-Nooh hammered home the sixth 147 of his career in the decisive frame against Pang Junxu to prevail 5-1 in their meeting at the Wuhan Open. The break is the milestone 147th to have been compiled on a Xing Pai table in professional competition.
This follows the drama of yesterday, which saw defending champion Xiao Guodong make a maximum in his first round win against Mink Nutcharut. There could have been more, with World Champion Zhao Xintong spurning a straightforward pink on 134 in his 5-3 defeat of Iulian Boiko.
Un-Nooh now stands to split the £5,000 high break prize with Xiao. The Thai star also made a maximum at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters earlier this season, meaning if he makes another in this season’s Triple Crown events he will scoop a £147,000 bonus. With this week not qualifying for that prize, he will have to settle for a potential £2,500.
It’s the 224th maximum in snooker history and the seventh this season.
