WPBSA Snooker Returns to World Abilitysport Games

World Disability Billiards & Snooker (WDBS) is delighted to announce that snooker will be included at the 2025 World Abilitysport Games in Jakarta, Indonesia this September.

This marks the second time that snooker will be part of the biennial multi-sport event for people with physical disabilities.

The 2023 World Abilitysport Games was staged in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand and saw snooker feature in a multi-sport games for the first time since the 1988 Paralympics.

Five classification groups were contested in 2023 with Gary Swift (Group 1), Tony Southern (Group 2), Thanapol Seekao (Group 3), Carl Gibson (Group 4) and Songkiat Raebankoo (Group 5) winning the respective gold medals.

WDBS Chairman Nigel Mawer QPM said: “We are delighted to see snooker return to the World Abilitysport Games for a second time. The 2023 Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand was a groundbreaking moment for disability snooker that helped to build a foundation for our return to Thailand for the recent historic World Disability Snooker Championship.

“We are very proud to once again be a part of the Games in Jakarta, Indonesia later this year and would like to thank World Abilitysport for their continued support.”

The 2025 World Abilitysport Games are scheduled to take place on 11-21 September in with more than 10 sports set to be involved including snooker.
