Egypt’s Mostafa Dorgham defeated Ali Jaleel 4-2 to win the first WPBSA Q Tour Middle East event of the season at the Emirates Billiard Sports Federation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The former All-African champion, who competed on the World Snooker Tour between 2023 and 2025, won through a record Q Tour Middle East field of 60 players from 11 nations to secure his maiden Q Tour crown.

Dorgham made the two highest breaks of the competition in his opening two matches – kicking off his 3-2 victory over Kuwait’s Omar Alhaji with a contribution of 125 before hitting a 129 en route to a whitewash win against Samer Aldahr from Jordan.

A 4-1 quarter-final victory over Saudi Arabia’s Ayman Alamri set up an all-Egyptian last four contest between Dorgham and Mina Awad.

The 21-year-old Awad had impressed in the his quarter-final win against former Q Tour event winner Ali Gharahgozlou as he scored breaks of 107 and 105 to help him to a 4-2 success.

Dorgham proved too strong in the semi-final match, however, as he completed a comfortable 4-0 win to set up a title match meeting with Jaleel.

The 25-year-old from Iraq was competing in his first ever Q Tour event but had impressed in overcaming Ali Al-Ameri (3-0), Mohamed Aljoakar (3-2), Khaled Farouk (4-0) and Khalid Ali Alkamali (4-2) to reach the last four.

There, Jaleel faced Iran’s Ehsan Heydari Nezhad, a former Q Tour Europe finalist last season and came from both 2-0 and 3-1 behind to get over the line in a deciding frame.

The cueist from Iraq made a strong start to the final by taking the first two frames in a race to four.

Dorgham showed his experience as he rallied to restore parity before moving one away from victory with a break of 92. The former professional then got over the line in a scrappy sixth frame to earn the first Q Tour Middle East title of the 2025/26 campaign.
