Peter Lines defeated Peter Devlin 4-3 at the Austrian Snooker Academy in Vienna, Austria to win the second WPBSA Q Tour Europe event of the 2025/26 season.
Victory in Vienna earned Lines the trophy, £6,000 in prize money and a place in the 2025 UK Championship qualifying rounds as per the WPBSA qualifying criteria. He has also risen to top spot in the Q Tour Europe ranking list after the first two events.
Lines’ event began at the last 64 stage where he defeated fellow countryman Nathan Jones 4-2 before following this up with successes against Filips Kalnins (4-1) and Krzysztof Czapnik (4-0) to earn his place in the concluding day.
A hard-fought quarter-final contest against 19-year-old Oliver Sykes went right down to the wire but it was Lines who, having trailed on three separate occasions, was able to get over the line in a deciding frame on the last pink.
More drama followed in the last four against George Pragnell, who moved one frame away from the final with a break of 53 to lead 3-2.
The former professional once again showed his battling qualities, however, to force a decider before hitting a break of 68 to set up a title match meeting with Devlin.
Devlin had dropped just three frames en route to reaching the final day before sneaking past Mark Lloyd 4-3 in the quarter-finals. A rapid whitewash win against Ashley Hugill then put the 29-year-old into his maiden Q Tour final.
Lines opened the final with a break of 71 and remained in the ascendancy in the early stages as he took three of the first four frames to move within one of victory.
His opponent refused to go down without a fight, however, battling back with two scrappy successes to force a seventh and decisive frame at the Austrian Snooker Academy.
It was Lines’ day though as he won through a third final frame decider of the day to secure his first Q Tour title since February 2024.
Post-match, Lines said: “I’m really pleased! I thought my days of winning tournaments had gone but I’ve been practicing hard lately and I’m glad it’s paid off.”
“It’s been hard work today and I should probably have lost at least two of the deciders today. But it’s always nice to come through them and it shows that I’ve still got a little bit of bottle! Sometimes it is just your day and today was my day.” he added.
