IPA professional Clint I'anson is 52 days into a 365-day break and dish challenge — break the rack, then try to run the table. This is day 52 of that series.
A break and dish (break and run) is the shot every 8-ball player wants and almost nobody can repeat on demand. Clint is filming one attempt a day for a year, so you see the real rhythm of a tour player: the break, the pattern, the balls that sit awkward, and whether the clearance holds together.
This is worth watching even if you never play IPA events. Look at how he chooses the first colour after the break, how he keeps an angle for the next ball rather than potting himself stuck, and how he treats the black as part of the pattern instead of an afterthought.
If you want a practice version at the club, do this: break, pick a colour, and try to dish. One rack a night. Log whether you finished. That is the challenge, scaled down.
Have you ever broken and dished in a match? Drop the story underneath.
