Ali Gharahgozlou defeated Ismail Türker 4-2 in the final of the third WPBSA Q Tour Middle East event at the UAE Snooker Academy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Iran’s Gharahgozlou has now won back-to-back Q Tour titles, following his victory in Dubai last July, and secures his place in the Q Tour Global Play-Offs alongside event one winner Habib Subah Humood from Bahrain. A trio of two-year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour cards will be on offer at the event which takes place on 11-13 March in Turkey.

A total of 25 cueists from 11 countries contested the three-day event with Gharahgozlou beating UAE’s Yahya Alsuwaidi (4-0) and and Qatar’s Ali Alobaidli (4-2) to reach the semi-finals on the concluding day of action.

A whitewash win over Karar Najim of Iraq, which featured two half-centuries, then saw the Iranian book his place in a second consecutive final.

In the title he would face the 34-year-old Türker from Turkey, who had beaten Humood in a deciding frame and then Egypt’s Omar Amer (4-1) to reach his second Q Tour final of the campaign.

Türker had been in fine scoring form and compiled the two highest breaks of the event – a 113 and a 110. However, he was unable to repeat this form in the vital moment as Gharahgozlou ran out a 4-2 victor to become only the second player to win multiple Q Tour Middle East titles after fellow countryman and current professional Amir Sarkhosh last season.
